About the Artist
Yang Xingwang is an artist who has been engaged in ceramic creation for over a decade in Jingdezhen. He skillfully oversees every step of the process in his studio—from wheel-throwing to firing the finished pieces—demonstrating a deep mastery of traditional craftsmanship. With a profound understanding of centuries-old porcelain techniques, Yang continues to maintain ancient traditions, blending craft with contemporary.
His practice, Huanxi Studio (meaning Joyful Life), reflects his belief in the joy that art can bring to everyday living. This philosophy of a “joyful life” guides Yang’s creative process, where he strives to craft pieces that elevate our daily spaces through beauty, harmony and cultural resonance.

We traveled to Jingdezhen to tour Huanxi Studio and experience firsthand the clays and glazes central to their craft. Often called the “Porcelain Capital,” Jingdezhen is a historic city in China renowned for its fine porcelain craftsmanship. Known for producing some of the world’s most exquisite ceramics, the city remains a vibrant hub for artisans and pottery production.
